Sales Development Rep
Role Overview
Sales Development Representatives (SDR) help streamline your sales process by managing and qualifying inbound leads while also conducting some outbound outreach. They act as the first point of contact for potential customers, ensuring that only high-potential leads make it to your sales team. This efficiency boosts your sales conversion rates and maximizes the return on your marketing efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle inbound lead inquiries from marketing efforts.
- Conduct outbound prospecting as needed (varies by company).
- Qualify leads using frameworks like BANT (Budget, Authority, Need, Timeline).
- Respond to potential customers through calls, emails, and chatbots.
- Work closely with AEs to ensure a smooth handoff of qualified leads.
- Track and report key performance metrics (calls made, meetings booked, etc.).
- Keep CRM up to date with lead status and engagement history.
Skills & Knowledge Required
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot)
- Ability to conduct outbound prospecting and cold outreach
- Knowledge of lead qualification frameworks (e.g., BANT, MEDDIC)
- Research skills for identifying potential customers and market trends
- Experience with email, phone, and social selling strategies
- Ability to build rapport and handle objections effectively
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Data-driven mindset for tracking outreach metrics and performance
- Familiarity with sales engagement platforms (e.g., Outreach, SalesLoft)
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred)
- Prior experience in sales, customer service, or lead generation roles
